News you can use
- This is a continuation of the recent post about the changes to lighting in 2012. Brenda Sheik had a number of great questions, so I thought I would continue the conversation
Two questions of the week from Brenda Sheik (two more will be featured next week)
- If a lamp, fixture, etc. recommends you only use a certain wattage bulb (for safety reasons, I assume) do we still need to follow that?" YES. For safety and quality reasons, you need to follow the manufacturer's advice in that you should not exceed wattage recommendations.
- Will the watts be listed somewhere on the packaging> YES, the watts will be listed someplace on the package. Look at the bottom of this label from the Federal Trade Commission: You will see watts measured.

- Instead of a picture, I am sending a link to a publication that we recently completed about lighting. Please check it out! It has some GREAT, basic information that will help you. Click here to view the new publication: http://pods.dasnr.okstate.edu/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-7430/L-344.pdf.
Anything else that I can think of to help you in your work
- Again, help consumers by encouraging them to think in lumens. This tells you how much light you are actually getting.
